I bet the police departments hate that .... Hard to read the numbers! Or unmanned toll roads, if you have those, where an auto cam takes a pic of the license and bills you that way. I used to take pictures of funny vanity plates and always thought I'd do a "sign"post of them someday, but never did. (Always thinking of you and this fun meme ;)).. Thank you!)
I would be surprised if this plate is legal. It looks as though someone tried to put a "confuse the camera" coating on and overdid it a bit. However a check in Wikipedia shows there was a problem in 2012, so it could have happened again. Defective Plates[edit] In 2012, reports began to appear of plates deteriorating earlier than otherwise expected. The reflective layers detached themselves from the metal plate, making the plate unreadable. Approximately 1% of license plates issued have this defect. The defect has appeared in both front and rear plates. Trilcor Industries and the MTO offer a five-year warranty on plates and will replace the defective plates at no cost.[19] Plate replacement for other reasons (theft, damage, wear, etc.) is done at a cost. I don't think plates like this are legal...
I have seen a few plates lately that look as if the blue was just on a film that has become loose and looks as if it has melted. Very strange!
Wow … that is unusual. It must have been a batch of bad paint or unbelievably harsh weather.
Looks like a wrong bake then.
My plate faded to unreadability, but at least it didn't flake off.
I really think they should be replaced free of charge.
That is a strange sight. The only time I have seen difficult to read numberplates is when they are mud-spattered from country road travelling.
