pre demolition

Sometimes you need to take a photo of a sign before it disappears. (though in this case, the abandonned Regal Constellation Hotel in Toronto may sit decaying a long while.)

  1. This sign is definitely a reminder of days gone by. It is the type I was used to seeing years ago. Hope they find some use for the building before it is destroyed. Why are we always tearing down and spending money, which could be used in far better ways, to build something new? It seems so wasteful.

  3. A fine "sign" shot of this soon-to-be-no-more building. Very well done.

  4. Great composition! The building looks pretty cool, shame they will not restore it.

  8. I have more shots of this building - the rest of it is in serious decay, but the sign is in great shape.

  9. The sign looks as if it was once a very proud and impressive symbol of a grand place! Great photo!

  10. It is a shame that the planned renovations never took place. In fact, I thought it had been torn down.

  11. Both the red sign and the white building look nice against the clear blue sky!

  12. There are so many old French-style buildings that disappear in the city without any warning. Too bad, these beautiful architectures are being replaced by ugly apartment buildings. No restoration thoughts (instead of tearing down buildings) ever crossed the minds when it comes to earning millions :(

  13. If they implode the building, that should yield some great photo ops.

  14. I read that there is so much asbestos inside that it is going to cost millions of $$ to tear down so it may be there for quite awhile.

  15. Farewell Regal Constellation.
Beware the asbestos if the building comes down.

I finally have a funny sign to add to all the others here.
    Shalom to you from Jerusalem.

  16. We are a dedicated bunch, we photographers of odd things, aren't we...LOL? We'll always be there to get those shots of buildings and signs to preserve for prosperity before they come down. And as Marvin says, demolition will be another photo op...:)

  17. I agree. I take photos of lots of things 'just in case' they aren't there the next time I come by.
